Notes for William HOOD (ref 1028):
Mentioned in brother Arthur's will as still alive 10 Jan 1767, along with his son William. Mentioned in father's will, along with children John, Arthur, Samuel & Nicholas. Whether this John & Samuel are the same two who both married in Bridport in 1768 is not 100% certain; however their descendants' contemporary claims of relationship to Sir Samuel HOOD (ref 957) make this relationship highly likely.
Notes for Arthur HOOD (ref 1030):
Removal order dated 15 Apr 1771, refers to Arthur HOOD, his wife Jane, and their son William (aged half a year), being removed from Mosterton to Netherbury.
Notes for William HOOD (ref 1033):
Sworn as Executor to Will of Uncle Arthur, 1774 - must have been at least 21 years of age. Hence birth must be 1753 or earlier. Main beneficiary of Will of Uncle Arthur - including "all those my messuages lands tenaments and hereditaments with their appurtenances situate lying and being in the several parishes of Mosterton, Bradpole and Netherbury". This is believed to include the "New Inn" at Mosterton (now called the "Admiral Hood"). According to notes dated 24 Jun 1938 (SCRO ref DD/AH Box 3 F.T.7) in 1777 the New Inn "belonged to Mr William Hood of Mosterton, Yeoman, Nephew and devisee of Will of Arthur Hood late of Mosterton, and according to a deed of 7 Feb 1777 he was indebted and conveyed property to Samuel Cox".
Notes for Elizabeth HOOD (ref 1035):
Mentioned in grandfather's will, along with father, as under age 21 in 1756. Letter to Hon Dorothy Violet HOOD (P1900) from Major Harold HART, on his reading of the book "The Admirals Hood" (TAH) (SCRO DD/AH Box 3 F.T.7). Stating that George HART (his great*2 grandfather) married Elizabeth Hood, daughter of William, uncle of Sir Samuel.
Notes for John HOOD (ref 1109):
Sailcloth Maker. Will proved at the PCC 3 Aug 1803. Refers to: "my daughter Ann, the wife of George Warr", "my son, Samuel Hood".
